Pre-Primary: Playgroup, Nursery, Pre I and Pre II
The earliest division of Little Stars Academy in Chandragiri, Kathmandu. Children join from around age three and stay through Pre II, before moving up to Basic Level in Grade 1.
Learning through play, songs and stories
The Pre-Primary division uses a Montessori-inspired approach. Instead of long lectures, children learn by handling materials, playing, singing and listening to stories. A child who is busy and happy in class is also learning.
Daily routines matter just as much as lessons. Children learn to put things away, to wait for their turn, to share, and to feel comfortable away from home. For most children this is their first school experience, so the tone is calm and patient.
The building blocks of school life
Early literacy and numeracy
Letters, sounds, numbers and counting, introduced through songs, games and hands-on materials so that they feel natural rather than forced.
Language in English and Nepali
Children hear and use both languages every day, building the speaking and listening skills that the four core language skills later depend on.
Movement and motor skills
Drawing, cutting, building and outdoor play develop the fine and gross motor skills a child needs before formal writing begins.
Social habits and confidence
Sharing, waiting, asking for help and speaking in front of the class are practised daily. Confidence built here carries into every later grade.
